Let's dance together and celebrate our gratitude of the year with movement and magic. I-OPENER invites you into a Sunday morning gathering back at our home hub with community to co-create a journey together… and starting January 2023 we’ll be back for monthly gathering! … a mix of local and worldwide teachers, DJs, artists, and musicians to weave a rich experience with a worldwide community and our local dance family.

PROGRAM
10:45am Doors open, Welcome 11:00 Opening Circle & Yoga Warmup w/Chandra Cantor 11:30 Dance Wave w/DJ Omar Aena 1:00 Closing Circle & Community Connections
Arriving: please try to arrive early and be ready to join 11am Opening Circle… after that honor your later entrance into the dance by taking a mindful walk around the outer edge of the space to arrive, calibrate, and connect Afterglow: We invite friends to help clean and clear the space after dancing, connect in conversation and care for our community’s home before heading out into your world… carry the good vibrations of the morning into your lives and pass them along to others
LOCATION
The Somerville Armory 191 Highland Ave, Somerville MA
((Entrance in front and Dance Hall inside lobby strait ahead))
Parking: available in Lot behind the building and along the street (free on Sundays). Carpooling encouraged.
Public Transport: 15 minute walk from Davis Square which is on the MBTA Red Line.
Accessibility: The Somerville Armory is fully handicapped accessible. Contact info@artsatthearmory.org for more information or assistance. We are LGBTQIA+ friendly and do our best to offer a safer space for all.
EXCHANGE
Adults (sliding scale) $20-30 Students w/ID, Elders, & Low Income w/EBT Card $15 Children 12 and Under $10

Kids: Are welcome but must be supervised, match the energy of the dance, and may only run around outside. Children must have a guardian to help them engage, in the dance space or out in the lobby, at all times.

GUIDELINES
1. Conversation outside the dance space, connect with your dance 2. Judgement free, move how you wish in awareness of others and their space 3. No digital devices, capture the experience with your eyes and heart 4. Respect yourself and one another, always get consent
Connect with inquiry before assumption, give yourself the gift of being fully present and free of distractions, enjoy a natural high, and co-create the experience with consideration. We dance barefoot and suggest wearing comfortable clothing to move in and bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated.
COVID AWARENESS: in consideration of others, please do not attend if you have any cover-like symptoms or recent exposure, masks are welcome but not required, and be aware of others comfort levels of physical distance needs
I-OPENER ECSTATIC DANCE
A monthly morning dance journey to take us into self exploration and creative expression. We honor moving as the music inspires you in a judgement-free space designed to inspire easeful presence and energetic flow. I-OPENER is an opportunity to connect with your self, shake up your patterns, let free-form inspiration abound, and co-create a transformative experience with new and old friends of all ages.
We offer a guided warmup, a carefully curated dance wave, co-created community art, themed altar for self reflection, side areas for connection, and opening & closing circles to hold time and space. Our upcoming offerings include... warmups of contact improv, gaga, soul motion, authentic movement, afroyoga... DJs from the local area and around the world!!
Let carefully crafted musical journeys allow you to process emotions, exercise your body and mind, lift your spirits, and be welcomed by a vibrant local community as part of a global family in ecstatic expression. You can engage in the dance as you wish… through movement, meditation, expansion, observation, introspection, development, and connection.
You’ll be amazed at what emerges when you let go and just dance!
